One suspect is in police custody following an overnight shooting at a bar on Tuesday that killed a 34-year-old father.

Police say the shooting happened around 2:30 am at the Tool Shed Lounge on Highway 40 after an argument broke out inside.

Three people were shot during the incident.

Investigators say 34-year-old Jarrod Blake, who friends describe as a father of two children, died from his injuries while two others were hurt.

"He was real down to Earth," said Josh Ellis, a friend of Blake. "He was the life of the party. Anytime he would show up, he was the life of the party."

After shots were fired, police said customers at the bar were able to wrestle the suspect to the ground and hold him down before officers arrived.

Hours after the shooting happened on Tuesday, the bar reopened for business.

The nature of the crime came as a shock for people who frequently go to the popular local spot.

"It's packed. You can't walk through there without bumping into people. It's pretty busy," explained Roger Nickell II, who started visiting the bar four years ago. "There's such a solid crowd of regulars there. They're regular bikers that are pure and good hearted."

The Tool Shed is one of the few bars in the area open after 1:30 a.m.

As a result of the late closing, Nickell said the crowd can change as the night goes on and fights can start.

"It's pretty rough," he explained. "Everybody knows it's a place to go for fighting."

The Tool Shed was also the site of another shooting back in 2008, when three people were injured.

Despite the tough reputation, Nickell said he never expected a fight at the location to involve a gun.

"Everybody knows you don't go to that bar and cause any problems," he explained. "The bikers will quickly escort you out the bar if you have any problems there. They're quick to stop anything that does happen."

Friends confirmed to 41 Action News that Trevor Brown was one of the victims injured in the shooting.

As of Tuesday evening, police had not released the name of the suspect.
