Police: Alert 11-year-old boy escapes armed abduction in Lenexa

LENEXA, Kan. - Police in Lenexa say an 11-year-old boy's quick thinking may have prevented an armed abduction Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement from the Lenexa Police Department, the boy was on his bike near 101st Street and Cherry Lane when a dirty white four-door vehicle drove by slowly, turned around came back toward him.

"He had already dismounted from the bicycle in preparation to flee at the time he was confronted," the statement from police said.

The boy told officers a man in the passenger seat pointed a black handgun at him and told him to "Get in the car."

The boy ran into Valley Wine and Spirits, 10103 Cherry Lane, as the car drove away, police said.

He described the suspect in the passenger seat as a white man with a dark complexion and a small amount of facial hair wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The boy did not get a look at the driver, police said.

The car was last seen driving westbound on 101st Street toward Woodland Road.
