KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police say an armed gunman who held up a concession stand at the Kansas City Zoo, first served a patron a soda.
Just before close, approximately 4:50 p.m. Sunday, the man had found his way into the area of the zoo near the Rhinos and Hippos in the Africa portion.
Police said he knocked on the door of the Treetops Snacks concession and said he worked at the nearby Rafiki Café and needed to check the Dr. Pepper supply.
When a customer came up, we’re told, the man served that person a soft drink. Once the customer left, the crook turned to the employees and said he needed a, “favor.” He then pulled a gun and demanded cash.
He managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
