The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. near 34th Street and Harrison Street.

Officials say Williams was was the woman's suspected boyfriend at the time and had a gun when it discharged.

According to officials, the victim stated that Williams accidentally shot her in the leg while they were play fighting. The bullet struck her groin.

Williams told police he normally keeps the handgun under his pillow and unloaded, but it accidently went off. Police say he took the gun and magazine and left the residence, tossing it in bushes down an alley.

The woman's injuries were initially reported as non life-threatening. The female victim is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital.

Police previously reported that the pregnant mother suffered life-threatening injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but that is no longer the case.
