A Bonner Springs Elementary School teacher has put in her resignation after Johnson County prosecutors charged her with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Karen Marshall was booked into the Johnson County Jail on Tuesday evening. Prosecutors say the charges stem from a March 2015 incident.

The Bonner Springs School System released the following statement:

“The Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District just became aware of, the arrest of Karen Marshall, a long-term employee at Bonner Springs Elementary. The district is currently looking into this matter, and will take the appropriate steps once more information is gathered.”

Marshall has worked as a kindergarten school teacher for the school for 26 years.
