KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police are investigating after two people were shot Tuesday afternoon in Raytown.
Officers were called to Brittany Place apartments near Utopia Drive and 87th Street around 4 p.m. on a reported shooting. Minutes later, Raytown Police found a man in the 5900 block of Crescent who was shot.
Capt. Dyon Harper said, “It looked like a fight that occurred out here, outside, right before the shooting. There were a lot of people here in the fight and then the shots happened, everyone ran.”
The victims were located and transported to an area hospital. Raytown police said they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Raytown police said there is surveillance video of the incident.
An officer at the apartment complex scene told 41 Action News, they need more officers.
Tuesday, the city swore in two new Raytown Police officers. Chief James Lynch said, “It’s a tremendous help. We have some in training too. Put it all together and it’ll all help.”
