KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jackson County prosecutors have charged an 18-year-old student for firing a gun at fellow students after school.
Prosecutors charged Trayell N. Hyche, 18, with firing from a motor vehicle and armed criminal action when he fired a gun just after 3 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the 10800 block of Beacon Avenue in the Ruskin neighborhood.
Police said one of the witnesses told them that Hyche had been shooting at a home from his car, causing damage to a pillar in the front of the residence, but did not strike any people.
A witness told police that two people, possibly students, were in a silver car possibly flashing gang symbols at Hyche. Police said Hyche later found the silver car and fired three to four shots near a residence where he located the silver car.
The Ruskin neighborhood has been in the news two other times within the last seven days. Last week, two Ruskin High School robotics students were assaulted while walking home from their after-hours session.
Then on Wednesday, police were called out to the area of 93rd and Cleveland after someone reported gun shots in the proximity of a school bus.
