KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A lunch hour search for a burglary suspect forced an elementary school to keep students and teachers inside the building.
The lockdown happened at Ingels Elementary School, 11600 Food Lane, in Kansas City.
Police said homeowners found a man coming out of their house around noon near East 116th Street and Winchster Avenue.
The homeowners chased the man and he fired gunshots at them, police said. No injuries were reported.
The district said that class continued as normal during the lockdown, but students stayed inside during recess.
The lockdown was lifted just before 1 p.m.
