Person of interest in Shawnee bank robbery taken into custody

SHAWNEE, Kan. - UPDATE: 4 p.m.

The suspect has been taken into custody.

On Monday afternoon, a man robbed the Intrust Bank in Shawnee, Kan.

The man was seen running from the bank near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Midland with a sawed-off shotgun, according to the FBI.

The suspect is described as a white male with a thin build in his late 20s. He was wearing a camouflage ski mask and a black hooded jacket with gloves when he entered the bank.

According to police, he had a southern accent and has carrying a camo backpack as well.

Just before 4 p.m., Skytracker showed a handful of police cars in the area near 63rd Terrace and Stevenson. Officers were seen canvassing a nearby wooded area on foot.
