Shawnee girl reports attempted abduction

SHAWNEE, Kan. - Police in Shawnee are looking for three suspects wanted in connection to an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old girl as she walked to her bus stop Friday morning.

According to a statement from the Shawnee Police Department, a 12-year-old girl was walking to her bus stop in the 14400 block of W. 67th street. She said she was walking eastbound when she saw two men in their 20s walking westbound on the opposite side of the street.

One of them yelled at her and asked if she would like to come to his house, according to the police statement. The girl told police she said ‘no' and started to run away.

According to the girl, both men ran across the street and chased her. The girl said as she ran away, a gold four-door sedan with front-end damage to the right front quarter panel, driven by a third man in his 20s, pulled into a driveway and blocked her path.

The girl said the driver stated "You want to come with us?"

The girl told police she then crossed 67th Street and ran northbound behind some houses and into the backyards. When she looked back, she said, the first two men were getting into the gold car, which left westbound on 67th Street.

The girl told police she continued to her bus stop and went to school. She reported the incident to her mother Friday after school, and the two reported it to police on Saturday morning.
