String of break-ins reported in Overland Park; 1 vehicle set on fire

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - A string of car break-ins over the weekend has Overland Park police issuing an alert. In one case, a car was set on fire.

The investigation is centering around 145th and Metcalf.

Police said thieves hit the neighborhood early Sunday morning, rummaging through at least eight unlocked cars and stealing electronics.

Around 2:30 a.m., one family woke up to find their oldest daughter’s car on fire in the driveway.

Overland Park police urge everyone to lock their cars and report any suspicious activity.
