JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - The suspect in last Friday's fatal Prairie Village accident has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and driving under the influence in the death of Tiffany Mogenson.
Mogensen was waiting at a red light when prosecutors say Maney slammed into her car, killing her. Maney was running away from police who tried to pull him over for a traffic stop
Maney made his first court appearance Tuesday in the Johnson County Courthouse in a video arraignment. Maney was in jail in front of a camera and answered the judge's questions
Maney waived the reading of charges against him and told the judge he had his own attorney. He was not emotional and simply answered the questions
Outside the courtroom in the hallway following the video arraignment, a woman who later said she was the victim's friend walked over to Maney's family and shouted, "Go ahead and cry. I get to go to my friend's funeral, murderer."
The angry woman then stormed out of the building.
Maney's next court appearance is October 24 at 9 a.m. in the Johnson County Courthouse.
