SUV found in hit-and-run that killed horse, injured rider

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police have found the vehicle that sideswiped a Kansas City couple riding their horses on Blue Parkway Sunday night.

Police got a tip that the SUV in question was at a local body shop. Pieces taken by the couple from the scene were matched to the damage on the vehicle.

Dawn and Craig Dudley were riding their horses when they were hit , throwing Dawn off Major the horse, injuring her and killing Major.

The vehicle is said to have been driven by a 26-year-old man. Police are still searching for him.

"You just never expected something like this to happen, come out of nowhere, just wipe you, your horse out. Just keep on driving. Didn't check to see if we were okay or anything," Craig said.
