2 men, 1 woman charged in Richmond widow's murder

RICHMOND, Mo. - Three people have been arrested for the murder of a widowed mother of three in Richmond, Mo.

Brandon Scott Simpson and James Gant, both 25, were charged with first degree murder on Thursday.

Lauren Gabbard, 23, was charged with second degree murder.

All three face additional burglary and stealing charges. They are being held at the Ray County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

Michelle Rheuport was killed in her home at 411 Farris Avenue on Wednesday morning. The 40-year-old's murder sent shock waves through the small Missouri town, which hadn't seen a homicide since 1996.

Rheuport had two sons, ages 12 and 17, and a 21-year-old daughter. Their father died from cancer 10 years ago.

At a vigil Wednesday night, family and friends remembered Rheuport as a kind woman who loved her kids.

Police said they do not believe her murder was random.
