Three charged in connection with July 11 murder

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Jackson County, Mo., Prosecutor's Office released the names of three men charged in connection with the July 11 murder of James Jackson.

According to a news release, Marcus M. Williams, 24, Larry L. Word Jr., 29, and Willie J. Gibson Jr., 24, face Murder 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.

Court records say Jackson's body was found in a vehicle near 20th and Denver Avenue. Investigators say it appeared as though the car was in an accident but gunshot wounds were found on Jackson's body.

Two defendants told authorities they planned on robbing Jackson when one of them shot him in his vehicle while approaching on foot. The victim was said to have then driven away and wrecked his car
