Trial set for clerk accused of shooting juvenile

The trial for a store employee accused of shooting a shoplifter has been set for July 2016

Mohammed G. Adbi, 26, was charged with first-degree assault and criminal action on July 1, 2015.

The charges stem from a shooting at the Pic N Save Market at 58th and Prospect.

Police found the juvenile outside of the store when they arrived on the scene that day. 

The shooting victim told Kansas City police he had taken a bag of cookies and pocketed them, according to the probable cause statement.

Abdi yelled at him before allegedly shooting at him. 

A surveillance video from the store indicated the victim exiting toward's the store's southeast exit.

The probable cause statement also said the video showed the victim not having anything in his hands, nor did he reach for any item. 

Abdi was taken into custody after the shooting.
