Computer thieves hit 3 Kansas City schools

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are looking for a trio of computer thieves responsible for stealing more than $50,000 worth of equipment.

The first incident occurred April 20 in a classroom building at Avila University, 11901 Wornall Road.

Two men stole 13 computers while another kept watch, according to Officer Michael Helvie with the South Patrol Property Crimes Unit.

The men rolled the computers outside on a cart.

Two weeks later, the same trio tried to take computers at DeVry University, 11224 Holmes Road.

A security guard frightened the thieves and they left empty-handed. Surveillance images from that incident are attached to this story.

That same day, the men took seven computers from the Derrick Thomas Academy, 201 E. Armour Road.
