Unlikely group asks neighborhood for information on unsolved murder

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City neighborhood wants answers.

Police still haven't made any arrests one month after a mother and her 3-year-old daughter were murdered at 55th and Wabash.

For weeks, fliers have been a familiar sight around the neighborhood. But Wednesday night, five friends were passing them out-- five people neighbors weren't used to seeing.

Something's been bothering Spike and his friends for the last couple of weeks.

"It really irritates me somebody could do this to a child," Spike said. "It really irritates me that somebody could know something about who did this to this child and won't report it."

Spike and his friends drove a half hour to reach out to a neighborhood that looks different than their own.

Both Mike and his friends want neighbors to speak up and are working to bridge and often overlooked divide.

"They can rely on people outside of their family for that support they can rely on people outside of their race for that support," Spike said.

That night, the five friends made a difference on one Kansas City street.
