A grandfather is dead and his wife is in custody after a fight in Kansas City on Wednesday.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A grandfather is dead and a grandmother is in custody after a fight at 43rd and Norton Wednesday afternoon.
The couple's granddaughter called police, worried about her grandfather after a series of phone calls. She told police the couple had been fighting.
The granddaughter wasn't at the house, but when paramedics arrived, they found the man already dead.
He was identified Thursday as 75-year-old Ronald Oliver.
The woman, also in her 70s, was taken into custody then taken to a nearby hospital for possible injuries she got in that fight.
Family quickly gathered around the home. One neighbor who was checking on the commotion in the usually calm neighborhood told 41 Action News she ran into the victim's sister on the scene.
"I think she had just gotten here and was saying 'that's my brother, that's my brother,'" Delores Johnson said. "I just came through a few minutes ago and was very surprised."
While police confirmed the man wasn't shot, they won't elaborate what kind if injuries killed this man. They will say they aren't looking for any other suspects.
*Editor's note: Police initially reported the man and woman involved were both 90 years old. They later corrected the ages, and the story has been updated to reflect that.
