KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A house fire claimed the life of a woman in Kansas City, Kan. Thursday night.
Fire crews responded to1025 Greenley within three minutes of the 911 call, around 10 p.m. Neighbors reported smoke coming from the front of the home. They told firefighters they weren’t sure if anyone was inside.
During their search, crews found a woman in the back of the home. The woman was transported to UMKC where she died from her injuries. The victim is said to be in her early fifties.
Authorities are not releasing any other details about the victim until her family is notified.
Fire crews were able to put the fire out within fifteen minutes, but by then, the damage was done. It’s estimated there is more than $35,000 in damages to the home which is worth about $55,000.
No one else was hurt in the fire.
