GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. - Grain Valley voters will decide next month whether or not to approve a $4.6 million bond for expansion of the high school campus.
The district's base bid includes adding five new science labs, additional restrooms and "collaborative learning spaces for both staff and students." It also includes adding a traffic signal on SW Eagles Parkway and rerouting roadways on the southeast corner of the campus.
Other improvements will be considered as an alternative bid; a greenhouse, improvements to the football complex and future parking areas.
The district said it needs additional space to accommodate anticipated growth in enrollment. About 950 students currently attend the high school, but the number is expected to rise to more than 1,200 in the next five years. District leaders said the school will eventually need to accommodate 1,500 students.
