Kansas City group to build library for children in Ethiopia

Donations are still needed

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - A Kansas City group is leaving for Ethiopia this summer in an effort to teach children how to read.

Members of the Blue River Kansas City Baptist Association are raising funds and collecting books to build a library for refugee children. They are planning to help the Avni Refugee Camp for Eritrean refugees.

Last year, a group of 12 people from the church were able to go. They provided clothing and shoes for 400 children. This year, they want to bring books as well.

Officials and elders at the camp have already given the church permission to build a library.

There are a few things the group still needs:

Early learning books

Learn to read English books

Picture books

Puppets

Books with CDs

Additional needs include funds to purchase books in Tigrinian, a diesel generator, dehumidifier, shelving and bookends.

After the library is built, the BRKC will continue to send teams back to teach the children.

If you would like to donate, please deliver items to Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 S 291 Hwy, Independence, Mo. 64057.

You can also donate online at http://www.blueriver-kansascity.org.

All of the donations will go to the expenses of the library.
