OLATHE, Kan. - Some special needs students in Johnson County got the chance to have some hands on fun outside of the classroom on Thursday.
It was the second "Challenge Day" hosted by MidAmerica Nazarene University. The event brings life skills students from the Olathe School District to campus to enjoy some fun activities.
The games are similar to activities in the Special Olympics, and each station is manned by the MNU student. Many of the college students helping at the event are in the school's sports management program or in the adaptive physical education class.
The high school teachers who bring their students say this is a great opportunity for their kids to have fun with their fellow classmates from other schools. It also gives the students a chance to see each other succeed.
