KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As Tuesday marks National Punctuation Day, it's only fitting that we're putting the big exclamation point on the fact that school enrollment is now open for the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Enrollment can be found exclusively on spellingbee.com, where parents can search to see if their child's school is enrolled. The fee is $120 per school.
The deadline to register is October 15 and the spelling bee takes place next May.
An estimated 11 million students are expected to take part in this year's program.
Last year, the spelling bee added vocabulary questions to the national bee, however vocabulary questions are not mandatory for school bees.
The Kansas City area is no stranger to the bee. The city is home to the Shivashankar family, whose daughter Vanya made it to the finals last year. Her sister Kavya won in 2009.
