KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Lee's Summit girl is back home after going toe-to-toe with some of the best spellers in the nation.
Jordan Hoffman made it into the finals of the Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. last week.
It was her last spelling bee because she starts high school in the fall. She says the whole experience is unforgettable.
"I got out on the word, canities, which I'd never heard before. But I have peace with my outcome cause I studied really hard and prepared," said Hoffman.
By the way, canities is grayness or whiteness of the hair.
Hoffman won a $1,500 gift card and other prizes.
