KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Your student's education could suffer if they get a teacher just starting his or her career, according to a new study of 1,100 colleges and universities.
"Right now in the country, we have a real problem with teacher training. This is not something unique to Kansas and Missouri. This is a national problem that's been observed for decades," Kate Walsh with the National Council on Teacher Quality said.
On Tuesday, the council released its findings of a 10-year study.
They looked at teaching programs across the county including dozens of universities in Kansas and Missouri participating in the study.
According to them, a large majority of programs do not provide teacher candidates with training methods that are proven to work in the classroom.
