KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Public School District says it supports the community's desire to reopen Hale Cook Elementary School.
The district hosted the first of two public tours Tuesday evening.
The tours are a chance for the public to see how the reopening project is coming along.
Hale Cook closed in 2009.
The community has until May 3 to recruit 55 kindergarten and first grade students to attend.
The new students must not currently attend Kansas City Public Schools.
The second tour is this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Hale Cook School.
