KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Art Bra, KC is hosting a fundraiser to benefit Missy's Boutique on Friday, May 3 at the TWA Museum at the Downtown Airport.
Artists from the Kansas City metro have been creating artistic bras for breast cancer survivors to model at the event. I was honored to be asked to model one of the artistic bras and share my story of surviving breast cancer.
The event will honor survivors and their co-survivors -- the people who helped the survivors through their breast cancer. Saturday, survivors and co-survivors shared their stories on video-tape and the tapes will be played at the May 3 event at the TWA Museum at the Downtown Airport.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2011 and completed chemotherapy, a lumpectomy and radiation treatments in February 2012. My husband, Ed, and I shared our memories on Saturday.
I am so grateful and thankful for every person who sent messages and cards and called or somehow let me know that they were supporting me. It was an amazing encouragement and definitely helped me during my breast cancer journey.
I hope you'll be able to attend the event. The money will help Missy's Boutique give free bras to women who have had mastectomy's and lumpectomy's. They also provide other support services to breast cancer survivors. It's a great cause.
