There's an app for just about everything these days, even losing weight.
Weight loss apps like "Lose It" can help you keep track of your calories.
The app basically works like a high tech food journal. All you have to do is scan the bar code, and it automatically tallies the calories.
App user Abe Mohammadione noted the information he learned was enlightening.
"The initial shock was finding out actually how many calories or how much fat or how much sodium was in a lot of the stuff I was eating on a regular basis," Mohammadione said.
Research shows keeping track of what you eat and drink helps you maintain smaller portions.
