Celebrate Mother's Day at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The StoneLion Puppets will perform Mother's Day for Mother Earth. This free event runs from 1-4 p.m., and no tickets are required for the performance or other activities.

Gardening Festival at Brookside Farmers Market
Activities at the festival include a chef demo from Michael Foust of The Farmhouse, free samples and an "Ask your farmer" booth. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 63rd St. and Wornall Rd., in Kansas City, Mo.

Celebrate National Public Gardens Day
Friday is National Public Gardens day, and there are plenty of places around town to celebrate.
The Laura Conyers Smith Memorial Rose Garden and the Stanley R. McLane Arboretum at Loose Park, and the Linda Hall Library Arboretum are local gardens that are free and open to the public.
If you're up for the drive, Powell Gardens is hosting a day full of events the entire family can enjoy. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12.

Rockfest at Liberty Memorial
