6-year-old shares his experience at Planet Comicon

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Planet Comicon has hit the Kansas City Convention Center. Geeks of all ages dressed up to celebrate everything in the comic universe.

Our own Mitch Weber is a huge Star Wars fan, but this convention is for everyone who loves anything that is sci-fi, or anything that can be found in a comic book.

While at Bartle Hall on Friday, it didn’t take long for him to discover this year’s convention is a first for many, including 6-year-old Robert.

Many fans come for the big sci-fi celebrities such as Michael Dorn or Margo Kidder. Like Robert, many are there for the experience. “I just wanted to see what it looks like around here,” he said.

For this boy wonder, Robert, or Robin as he often goes by, (as in Batman and Robin), is more star struck by those just like him. “I can’t wait to meet RTD2,” he said.

Upon meeting him, the two had a quick exchange, “I have a game of you in my Star Wars game,” Robert told RTD2. RTD2 graciously beeped back.

It didn’t take long for Robert to spot those rouge villains that fit in his comic universe. “Well hello Harley Quinn. How are you today?” Robert asked. Robert told Harley and the Joker, who he spotted moments later, it was his first time at Comicon.

Coming up with his costume was less about the cool factor and more about the fit. When Mitch asked him why not Batman or Superman, Robert replied, “Because I kind of grew out of those suits.”

And sure enough, Robert is in the right place though, because he’s still a kid at heart. When Mitch asks, “so you fit in here?” Robert replies, “Yeah, I do fit in here.”

Planet Comicon runs until 7 p.m. Friday night, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
