KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City neighborhood long considered a food desert now has a new grocery store to help bring affordable, healthy options to those living there.
ALDI has opened at 3830 Prospect Ave.
There aren't many grocery options in that neighborhood on the east side of the city. The closest store isn't within walking distance, a problem in a community where many people do not have cars.
The store celebrated with a grand opening on Monday.
The new store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
