Amber Alert canceled: 3-year-old Luke Turner found safe, father Monty Turner arrested in Canada

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:

Authorities have arrested a man accused of breaking into his estranged wife's home before blasting her with a stun gun and pepper spray and kidnapping their 3-year-old son.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said Sunday afternoon that an Amber Alert for 3-year-old Luke Turner had been canceled, and the child is safe. The father was arrested at a motel in Brandon, Manitoba in Canada at about 1:30 p.m.

Police say Monty Turner, assaulted his wife at her Longmont, Colo., home Saturday and left with their child. A court order prohibits the father from contacting his wife and son.

The boy's grandfather was pulled over earlier Sunday in southwest Missouri on a warrant for second-degree kidnapping. He was driving a vehicle with a license plate number listed on an Amber Alert.

BATES COUNTY, Mo. - An Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old boy from Colorado has been extended to Missouri after his grandfather was arrested in Bates County Saturday night.

The alert was issued for Luke Turner when his father, Monty Turner, allegedly kicked in the door to his mother's home in Longmont, Colo., Saturday morning and took him.

Longmont authorities said Monty pepper-sprayed the boy's mother, Brandy Turner, and shocked her with a stun gun.

"My son got out of his chair at the table and was yelling to him, 'Please don't hurt my mommy,'" Brandy said.

Unsure what Monty might do, Brandy said she stopped struggling and allowed him to see his son, because that's what Monty had demanded.

But as Brandy slipped into a bedroom to call 911, Monty kidnapped the toddler and took off, police said.

Late Saturday, Longmont police said they believe Monty and Luke were in a 1999 white, 4-door Chrysler 300 with Colorado license plates.

The Missouri State Patrol stopped the Chrysler overnight but the only person in the car was Monty Turner's father, Ronald Turner, Longmont police confirmed. He was arrested as an accessory.

Authorities extended the Amber Alert to Missouri, and believe Luke and Monty may be traveling along Interstate 70.

This is the second time in less than a year Monty is accused of abducting his son. Brandy filed for divorce last summer.

She said she gave in to Monty's request to let Luke stay with him for three days over the Fourth of July last year and the father vanished with their son, hiding out for nine months.

Monty is currently wanted on an arrest warrant for violating the conditions of a $50,000 bond for failing to appear in court, police said. He also will be facing additional charges related to the alleged kidnapping, burglary and assault.

Turner also has violated a judge's protection order that prohibited him from contacting his estranged wife and his son, according to authorities.

Monty is a white, 51-year-old man who is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs 210 pounds and has short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve dark blue shirt and blue jeans.

Luke is a white 3-year-old boy who is 3 feet tall, weighs 28 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a royal blue "Lightning McQueen" shirt and light blue swim shorts.

If you see Monty or Luke Turner or know their whereabouts, call 911 or the Longmont Police at 303-651-8501.
