KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Thousands of local students will head back to school in style thanks to the Back to School Blast.
The event provided backpacks and school supplies to 3,000 children.
Children also could get a free haircut, free immunizations, a free school uniform shirt and a bag of fruit.
“Giving them an opportunity to not have to spend the funds on other things so that they can be prepared and get need for school,” Clifton Campbell, program director of United Services Community Action Agency, said.
There are also events in Clay and Platte County.
Organizers are hoping to get 6,000 children to register for the 2015 event.
