Bonner Springs fifth graders celebrate MLK day

BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. - The fifth grade class at Bonner Springs Elementary spent their Thursday celebrating an icon.

Students sang and performed a play to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr., a few days ahead of the upcoming MLK Day.

"There's still work to be done and they're [the students] the ones to do it because their hearts are open and they're clear and they're not clouded by prejudice," former student Melva Jarrett said.

Jarrett also said she's proud of how far the school has come.
