LENEXA, Kan. - While many are preparing for their Memorial Day cookouts or parties, some local Boy Scouts got ready in their own way.
Scouts and their families spent a few hours Wednesday night transforming a grassy Lenexa lot into a sea of stars and stripes.
Every year they put out the flags, this year there are about 1,400 to honor military members. Scouts we talked to said it was the least they could do.
“It makes me feel really good that I’m out here doing this for our troops. I mean, it’s just kind of a small way that I can give back to them,” Life Scout Nick Jones said.
You can check out the patriotic paradise for yourself. It sits at I-435 and 95th Street next to the Kiewit Power Building.
