It’s been 5 days and people are frustrated.

The people who live in the Stony Point neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas say they are just very uncomfortable.

One man shared with 41 Action News that his house warmed up to 98 degrees on Tuesday night.

BPU crews acknowledge the Stony Point neighborhood is the one that needs to most work.

Like many, Twillah Williams has been without power since Saturday night.

"Oh I was sweating. It was bad. Pace maker didn’t make things happy at all," said Williams.

The weekend storms hit her and her neighbors the hardest.

“They’ve been dramatically impacted so that’s where we’re concentrating all of our efforts right now,” said David Mehlhaff, Chief Communications Officer for Kansas City BPU.

Mehlhaff says BPU has fifty crews working right now, most of which are concentrated in Stony Point.

“It was tough,” said Williams.

At the peak of the outage, BPU had 21,000 customers without power. They hope all their customers will have power by late Wednesday night.

“Some customers we will not be able to restore power to. The ones that had their meter boxes pulled off their homes, therefore we have to have certified electricians repair it and then we can restore power again,” said Mehlhaff.

Williams says she was hoping to have air conditioning by tonight, and around 4 p.m. Wednesday that wish came true.

“Just now, just as I walked out the door and gave you the thumbs up it came back on,” said Williams.

BPU brought in crews from out of state. Those extra crews will stay here until after tonight’s rain passes, just in case their services are needed again.
