Car fire at H&R Block building leads to evacuation, road closure

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A car fire in the parking garage at the H&R Block headquarters in downtown Kansas City prompted an evacuation of the building and shut down 13th Street Friday morning.

The Kansas City Fire Department chief said people inside were evacuated because of smoke in the building, 1 H&R Block Way.

Thirteenth Street was closed between Walnut and Main, but reopened around 9:30 a.m.
