KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A child swimming in an apartment complex pool is now sadly the third drowning victim over the weekend in Kansas City.
According to Darin Snapp of the Kansas City Police Department, officers were called to the Willow Wind apartment complex Sunday afternoon around 5:30 p.m. The Kansas City Fire Department arrived to the scene to begin treating the child, a 7-year-old boy.
The child was transported to a nearby hospital where is was pronounced dead.
The child's mother found the boy in the bottom of the 5 foot deep pool, She stated that the child had been playing in the 3 foot deep part of the pool.
Officer Snapp noted that there were no signs of foul play and that the death was being investigated as an accidental drowning.
