LENEXA, Kan. - A 3-year-old boy left unattended by his mother and found wandering outside by a neighbor is safe, police said.
The child, wearing pajamas and no shoes, was found on the 8400 block of Legler Road and had been wandering for about 30 minutes.
A neighbor found the child and knocked on the parents' home, but received no answer, police said. The child's father arrived as police arrived, and they are investigating further.
"Luckily, the child was in no danger and he could've been," said Dan Friesen of the Lenexa Police Department. "That is a very busy roadway, and at that time of day, there are a lot of folks headed to work and school. Luckily, that neighbor was there for him, and found him and was able to keep him safe."
Friesen did not yet know if the child's parents would face any charges.
