Kansas City hosts its first K-12 City School Fair.  The Saturday morning event featured 50 districts, charter, private and parochial schools within the KCPS boundaries.

Tricia Johnson is the executive director of Show Me KC Schools.  She helped plan the event and hopes to help educate parents of their school options in Kansas City.

"We're encouraging conversations between parents and school administrators and parents and other parents," said Johnson.

Kansas City Mayor Sly James attended the fair and addressed the crowd of students ad parents.

"The perception of the school district lags behind the realty of the school district," said James.
"Most cities have one maybe two districts. We have 15 that sit in some part of Kansas City.  I think people are definitely confused about the number of schools the quality of schools the difference of schools," said James.

Organizer say the event was a success and they hope to host more City School Fairs in the future.
