KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Thursday, one family took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to a new level.
The Coco Key Water Resort dumped 500 gallons of water for the challenge!
The family of Keith Wilkerson, who died from ALS in 2005, said they are amazed with how much awareness the challenge has brought to the disease.
"We've got to learn and find a cure for these people. They don't live long enough for the trials to find a cure. But we've got to keep trying,” Dian Wilkerson McCullouth, Wilkerson’s sister, said.
Starting Friday, the water resort is offering customers a special discount if you mention ALS at the door.
Proceeds from this weekend will go to the ALS Association.
