Victim approaches Cristo Rey High School after shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Christo Rey High School was briefly placed on lockdown after a person was shot at an apartment complex a couple of blocks away and went to the school with another person seeking help.

According to a school spokesperson, two men tried to get into the school but were ordered out by the assistant principal.

Police later found the injured victim near the south side of the school on Wyandotte with gunshot wounds to the leg.

One of the suspects described as wearing blue jeans and a black jacket with a dark, navy blue shirt underneath with an eyebrow ring on his left eyebrow and holding a handgun. The second is described as wearing black pants and black hoodie; he is also reported as having a gun.

Police are checking the surveillance video of nearby businesses for any video of the suspects.

Penn Valley was briefly on lockdown, but was given the all-clear just after 4 p.m.
