Deer rescued from flood waters recovering

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Many of you on our Facebook page wondered what happened to the deer trapped in high waters near 51st and Indiana on Wednesday.

The deer is now at Lakeside Nature Center where she is being cared for by staff who say her four hooves are hurting, but she is eating well.

They are watching for any respiratory problems that might be associated with taking in water.

Because there are no rehabilitation sites in the county for the deer and because of Chronic Wasting Disease, deer cannot be moved across state lines, the deer will stay and be cared for at Lakeside.
