Dog fighting victim travels across county for new home

A dog rescued from a dog fighting ring is now getting a second chance.

Mabel arrived at the Great Plains SPCA in Independence this morning. She was one of 367 dogs rescued from the multi-state dog fighting ring last year.

Mabel and four other dogs were moved to shelters across the country to increase their chances of being adopted.

She been recovering and receiving behavioral treatment and is now ready to move into a loving home.

“She is certainly going to shatter some thoughts people have about dog fighting ring victims. She is going to be ready for a home, for a family," said Rachel Hodgson, Great Plains SPCA.

If you're interested in adopting Mabel, you can send the Great Plains SPCA a message on their website or facebook page.
