Driver who hit, killed young boy in Northland speaks publicly for first time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The woman who hit two young boys with her car in the Northland spoke publicly for the first time Wednesday afternoon.

Tammy Linam hit 8-year-old Jordan Hale on his skateboard as well as 6-year-old Jesus Gonzalez.

Hale died from the impact near the apartment off of NE Winner Road.

Police ruled out any drugs or alcohol, but the crash is still under investigation.

Linam wanted to let the families of the two boys know how she felt and send her condolences.

“"I spent my entire life helping people, and trying to care for children. Now I find myself in what would be any parents, every parent's nightmare. I want the families of Jorden and Jesus to know that they're on my mind and their families are in my prayers for the rest of my life. I Can't discuss what happened other than to say it was a horrible accident. Lives have been changed and they're never going to be the same again," she said during the news conference.

The 6-year-old, known as “Chuy,” is listed in good condition, but there are no plans for his discharge from the hospital.
