Explosive device found at Drexel, Mo. bank

A two block area of mostly businesses has been evacuated in Drexel after Cass County deputies discovered an explosive device in a man's vehicle.

Deputies were called just before 8:00 a.m. Saturday for a suspicious person parked in the lot of the Hawthorn Bank, in the 100 block of 2nd Street.

Upon arrival, the deputy located a man who has active warrants and was arrested.

During the arrest, the deputy found was appeared to be an improvised explosive device.

The nearby area, which consists of businesses, many of which were closed has been evacuated. Nearby residents are encouraged to stay indoors.

The Lee's Summit bomb squad arrived about noon, an recovered a device and rendered it safe.

all persons returned to their homes and businesses.

The man, Caleb M Ayers of Harrisonville is wanted to warrants of vehicle theft  from St. Clair County, probation revocation from Bates county and municipal ordinance violation from Belton. Additional charges are pending.
