Family and friends searched the wooded area around Bannister and Blue River Road on Sunday, hoping to find out what happened to 18-year-old Desirea Ferris.

Her mom, Patty Tam, said she was last seen May 2 and never came back to her Liberty home.

Ferris was last seen around 77th and Troost or Bannister wearing a pink fleece jacket, cream-colored crop top, sweats, and a tan purse.

18-year-old Desirea Ferris hasn't been seen since May 2.

Tam told 41 Action News an employee at the Phillips 66 gas station at Bannister and Holmes said Ferris was in the store the night of May 2 with a man, buying alcohol.

Family said it's like she fell off the face of the earth, but they are convinced someone knows something about Ferris' whereabouts.

Her phone and social media activity stopped on May 2, which family says is unlike her. Tam says she always called and texted.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Kansas City Police Department or Liberty Police Department.
