Former school board member files ethics complaint

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The state of Missouri Ethics Commission is searching for a secret group that sent out an attack mailer targeting a Kansas City School Board member.

The mailers arrived in mailboxes just days before this month’s school board election. Joseph Jackson lost his re-election to the school board after this mailer claimed he voted to suspend a student over bringing a plastic knife to school.

Jackson traveled to Jefferson City and filed the complaint.

“I would like to see the Missouri Ethics Commission fully delve into this matter to find out everybody who was responsible. Anybody that participated, conspired, collaborated, paid for or had any knowledge of this information,” Jackson said.

If the commission finds out who is behind the mailer, it could also be linked to other mailers sent out in the Hickman Mills School District.
