Gardner woman gets into police chase with baby in car, crashes into Ill. home

SAVANNAH, Ill. - A woman from a Kansas City area suburb is in custody in Illinois following a traffic stop, exchange of gunfire with officers and a police chase before finally driving her car into a house.

Quad Cities, Iowa NBC affiliate KWQC-TV6 reports the woman, identified as 21-year-old Allana D. Hill, of Gardner, Kan., was charged Wednesday following a series of incidents with authorities, including Illinois State Police, Savannah, Ill., Police and Carroll County, Ill., Sheriff's deputies.

Hill was in a Jeep with her baby and another man when officers spotted the car speeding early Tuesday morning. The man, who was driving, pulled over. But Hill reportedly hit the man, took the wheel and sped off as the officer fired shots into the Jeep.

Hill eventually crashed the Jeep into a house with her baby still in the car. The baby was unharmed, but Hill required treatment before being released into police custody.

Carroll County Prosecutors charged Hill with aggravated battery, aggravated reckless driving, aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated fleeing and attempted to elude.

The baby was released to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
